The practice was founded in August 2020 due to a merger between The Green Street Clinic, Enys Road Surgery and the Bolton Road Surgery in order to operate from new, larger, more spacious and more modern purpose-built premises, allowing it to be stronger, more resilient and better placed to attract new staff and to replace retiring doctors and nurses and offer better services.
The new medical centre has been designed to be a state of the art facility with modern design and accessibility options and will allow better use of IT and other technology to improve access for patients. The new facility will give much greater scope for outpatient clinics to be provided in the community rather than hospital and doctors and nurses will offer more preventative care.
August 2021 saw two further developments, firstly we welcomed patients from Eastbourne Station Health Centre when they became the fourth practice to merge and secondly we opened our new branch site within the Beacon Shopping Centre.
The Beacon surgery allows us to offer a town centre presence which is more convenient for a number of our patients and by basing itself in a large modern shopping centre, easily accessible to all by road, rail, bus and foot. In addition to providing a hands on fully serviced GP platform we are also embracing new technologies to monitor and treat traditional medical conditions. For more information regarding the Beacon branch click here to visit its own dedicated website.
Victoria Medical Centre also leads a Primary Care Network and works collaboratively with other local services including the community hospital, district nurses, community mental health teams, health visitors/school nurses, rehabilitation and community support services and social services.
