The Beacon Practice Change in Opening Hours

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Why is this change happening?

The Beacon Practice is part of Victoria Medical Practice. Like many GP practices in the country, staffing is an ongoing challenge. In order to ensure safe working environments for our staff across both sites, we have taken the decision to move afternoon clinics on a Tuesday and Thursday to Victoria Medical Centre, to avoid lone working and ensure patients can continue to receive the best possible care.

We have made this change in opening hours to ensure there is still daily coverage of appointments and minimise the impact to patients.

Is this change permanent?

We are proposing this to be permanent change, however we will review the decision again in October based on impact and feedback from patients and staff.

Will this affect my access to GP services?

No, you will remain a registered patient at Victoria Medical Centre and the Beacon Practice, and still have daily access to appointments. However on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons the GP, Nurse and phlebotomy clinics will be held at Victoria Medical Centre. These changes will not affect the usual Friday afternoon clinic for Homeless/Rough sleepers, delivered by specialist GP.

All patients will continue to have access to appointments throughout the week, including Saturdays through the Enhanced Access Service.

Is there anything I need to do?

No, you do not need to do anything. If you need to arrange an appointment, please do so in the usual way by calling the practice or using the online option on our website Online consultations – Victoria Medical Centre
